Why redistribution of wealth doesn't work

I think I have finally begun to understand why redistribution of wealth doesn't work.

The socialist agenda has a couple of main thrusts. One, being rich is bad. Two, the money from the rich should be distributed to those who are not rich. But why? Ultimately this means that those who are not rich are trying to become rich by acquiring the money from those who are rich. Does the illogic of this strike you? Those who are not rich are trying to be what they despise.

Did you ever notice that when poor people rather abruptly come into a situation of wealth it doesn't last? People win a lottery and are instantly wealthy by worldly standards. Then in less than two years they aren't just bankrupt, they owe way more money than they won. How is this possible? It's possible because these people apparently insist on being poor. Oh they don't think that's what happened, but it is. They have taken an amount of wealth that by any stretch of the imagination should have lasted them several lifetimes and made it go away.

Then there are other people who have nothing and allow themselves to succeed. They take nothing and turn it into a lifetime of wealth, and I am not referring to those who do illegal things to achieve this.

In the final analysis you could take everything away from the wealthy and completely level the playing field. In less than two years the formerly wealthy would be wealthy again, and the poor would be poor again. The bottom line is that "people are created equal" but they don't stay that way.
